Skylar Weber
I am a 3rd year student at the University of New Mexico, studying Earth and Planetary Sciences with a minor in Sustainability Studies. Growing up in the city, I watched my family members, especially my grandpa, turn 4-by-4 ft plots of grass into beautiful and abundant gardens, or their backyards into gardens. This exposure influenced me to pursue a career in food systems and urban agriculture. I aspire to help build a future where healthy, nutrient-rich food is not a distant dream, but something accessible just down the street.
Annalise Kerwin
Hello, my name is Annalise. I am a junior at the University of New Mexico, studying sustainability and regenerative food systems. My interest in food systems and farming stems from my childhood, where I spent summers in a rural farming town in central Illinois on my grandparents farm. Through that work I learned that farmers are essential to sustaining our futures.
This project is my capstone, giving me the chance to explore how Albuquerque is taking control of our food systems and building hubs of healthy food, nature and education. Through this work, we've connected with local farmers, gardeners, and community leaders, learning about regenerative practices and the positive impact of community-led food systems.
With Regenerative ABQ, my goal is to celebrate the people and practices that bring community together and restore the land.
